CLEP

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP Registration and Cost

Some colleges will not allow students to take CLEP test if they have taken a college level course aligned with that exam. You can not take the CLEP test in a topic that you failed before. It is important to know that candidates must wait at least 6 months before they can repeat the same test.

If you want to take the Paper-Pencil Based Test, you need to contact CLEP directly. Paper based Test is offered only for fourteen CLEP titles and the registration fee is higher. It will also take longer to get the results. Please see the perspective sections for details.

Before registering you should find out the CLEP policy of the school in which you are interested. Then find a CLEP test center near you. There are 1300 centers in the US and world wide. Next contact the center and find the registration process and available test dates.

If you can not take the test under regular and standard circumstances due to any kind of disability, contact your test center in advance, so that they can accommodate your special needs.

For general information, and transcripts call 1-800-257-9558 (8am–6pm, ET, Monday through Friday). Military Personnel should call 609-895-5011. For information on credit granting policy contact the college and university of your interest.

The cost of CLEP Computer Based Test is $55 and for Paper-Pencil Based Test CLEP the registration fee is $120. Military personnel can take CLEP at no cost.
