CLEP

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP Test Scores and Credits

If you take the Computer Based Test (CBT), you will receive your score instantly (except for English composition with essay), but if you take the Paper-Pencil Based CLEP Test it will take between 2 to 3 weeks to get the result.

Your CLEP score has two parts “raw score” and “scaled score”.

Your CLEP Raw Score is based on the correct answers, and points will not be deducted for incorrect and unanswered questions.

The CLEP Scaled Score is (scaled 20 to 80) calculated by equating your raw score. It means your score will be adjusted for “slight differences in difficulty between test forms” to make sure the final score is independent from specific test form you took “or how well others did on the same test.”

CLEP scores are calculated independently and are not comparable to other scores or other tests such as SAT.

The minimum CLEP score required for each subject varies from exam to exam and from college to college. Credit-granting policy of each college or university determines the passing grade.
